Because personal stories have great power -- to enlighten, inspire, entertain and educate. Pretty much every family has a mental health story. It’s time to start sharing them.
Who Funds Us?
Foundations, corporations and individuals who believe in a positive conversation on mental health. HUMANIA Foundation soon will turn to a 501c3 nonprofit corporation.
What’s Our Mission?
We strive to begin the conversation of mental health and interdisciplinary solutions of care for all people struggling with mental health issues. We do this by addressing the things that have not worked, but looking towards what has worked, and combining knowledge from experts, professionals, and international organizations so we may work together to provide a new model that connects multi-modes of care to help improve mental health outcomes. Innovative forms of care provide new forms of hope and understanding for those providing care, and receiving care. We start here, now.

HUMANIA CREATOR'S STORY
Arnold Garcia Founder & Publisher of Shine on Hollywood Magazine & Humania Documentary
We hear of people overcoming extreme difficulties, pulling themselves up by the proverbial boot straps, and, against all odds, succeeding in exceptional ways. Yet Arnold Garcia has taken this concept and life journey to the next level. His inspirational journey of moving against the grain, and as some say, “against friction,” continues with his deepest desires to help improve the journey of others so they may believe in themselves, find their soul’s purpose, and fulfill dreams all while improving their quality of life. As an example of doing it anyway, no matter what others say, no matter what negative framework exists out there, Arnold Garcia not only toured the world performing top 10 hit dance music for which he was considered for Grammy Award in multiple categories, and became a voting member of The Recording Academy since 2011, but after a life-threatening illness and recovery, he founded Shine on Hollywood Magazine (SOHM) in 2012. SOHM has astounded mainstream media, as SOHM continues to garner over 26.6 million hits in over 60 countries since its inception in 2014, and continues to grow in 140+ countries. While continuing to expand SOHM and changing the Hollywood media framework from gossip and division to providing inspirational positive stories of artists, philanthropists, entertainers, fashionistas, non-profit leaders and more, he was moved by the realization of the crisis within those marginalized through the diagnosis of mental illness. Arnold’s early experience working in mental health residential, outpatient, and emergency settings at Camarillo State Hospital, California, personified the pain and resilience of so many struggling to maintain emotional and mental health. His work with others diagnosed with psychosis, anxiety, bi-polar, and multi-diagnosis patients in mental health facilities primed Arnold to be compassionate and vigilant as the mental health crisis increased not only in the United States, but globally.
This catapulted Arnold into making a difference, to address the issue of the mental health crisis, and to begin the journey of HUMANIA, the Documentary. Arnold strives to bring together experts in the field of mental health, wellness, medicine, and international organizations such as the UN and UNESCO, the WHO, and multiple leaders to help improve communication about mental health, find solutions in the management and care, and inspire a new way of looking at mental health to help decrease suffering, and bring hope to new generations.

Dr. M Daniela Torchia, PhD brings her expertise in public health and research to support the purpose of HUMANIA, the documentary in its goal to help breach the gap in care for those suffering with mental health illness. She aims to help educate the public on the increasing trend of mental health issues, to forge partnerships and instill hope in solutions of care and prevention.
Her work with those suffering with mental health issues has provided a greater opportunity for insight in the development of potential new interdisciplinary care models. Dr. Torchia has had over 22 years of public health community health experience, has worked in the field of clinical nutrition developing and implementing public health programs in the non-profit, and private sectors. After working in a California mental health clinic, her awareness on the difficulties of care within these facilities encouraged her to seek out psychiatrists, psychologists, professionals, and organizations who used traditional and complimentary modes of care to help create a theoretical model of inclusive interdisciplinary care. She has been able to forge relationships to help meet HUMANIA’s goals by facilitating the conversation between organizations, practitioners, and those suffering with mental health diagnoses. Dr. Torchia aims to help increase the understanding of what has not worked, and what has worked in the care of those suffering. She has been referenced in multiple magazines, e-sites such as Women’s Magazine, Shape, Crixeo, She Knows, and has been interviewed on various wellness and health radio stations, with her nutrition book to be available by the end of 2018, and a future academic journal article publication through the Journal of Immigrant and Minority Health.
